This wedding was extra special for me to photograph because the bride - who is also named Melanie - and I have been best friends since we were four years old. From the moment Melanie introduced me to her then boyfriend Shane, I had a hunch they would walk down the aisle together; they just seemed to “radiate” happiness when they were around each other.
Spring is the perfect time of year for daffodils, rabbits, and weddings in Rhode Island! Kayleigh and Brian tied the knot at The Chanler at Cliff Walk just as all the florals in Newport were bursting!
Who doesn’t love a “homegrown” wedding?
It’s not everyday you get to photograph your childhood friends’ wedding… and it’s certainly not everyday you get to photograph part of the wedding at your own parents’ house. For this reason, this wedding was an emotional one to capture. Kristie and I - along with her brother, Scott - grew up together. I was either down at their house or they were up at ours. We spent Saturday nights and holidays together, swam on the same teams, fished our neighborhood creek together, terrorized the neighborhood on bicycles together, and got into good-ole fashion mischief together.
As a destination wedding photographer, I enjoy designing stylized photo shoots to channel my creative energy. With a strong interest in the history and culture of Scotland, I organized this stylized shoot to take place in and around Glen Coe, which is a little village right at the start of the Highlands!
It was a “picture-perfect day” with the Cherry Blossoms in bloom at the Tidal Basin in Washington D.C. when I took family portraits of Amanda, Shane, and Avery! It was amazing to watch little Avery experience the pink Cherry Blossoms for her first time. A fun fact about these beautiful trees: they were a gift to the United States from the mayor of Tokyo in 1912 as a symbol of friendship between the two countries. As we explored the Tidal Basin with the flower petals floating through the breeze, all three of us enjoyed the peaceful sentiment behind this 105-year-old gift.
For a wedding that was planned within three months, this one was pretty spectacular! I had the pleasure of photographing Cathie and Andrew's destination wedding in Providence, Rhode Island, during the best time of year in New England: Fall! Their wedding included a few traditional aspects, a few non-traditional ones, and a number of DIY facets!
Sarah and Pat chose the infamous historic town of Annapolis for their wedding. Once the couple was dressed to impress, we hit the road to head over to Franklin Street for their “First Look”. From there, we carried on to the Port of Annapolis for the ceremony and reception.
