I had a wonderful time working with the Gruska Family at Rosewood Tucker’s Point! This resort is a wonderful place for a photo shoot and is undoubtedly a photographer’s dream! The family traveled down to the tiny island of Bermuda from New Jersey for a little “R and R” with their daughter. We explored the ins and outs of Tucker's: the library, the unique architecture of the resort, the croquet lawn, the spa pool, although their goal for the photo shoot was to make sure their daughter enjoyed the beach! Their daughter had such a fun time at the beach that she passed right out from pure excitement!
Elopement: Anna & William - Tucker's Point, Bermuda
Rosewood Tucker’s Point is one of my favorite resorts to photograph weddings at in Bermuda. The landscape is always pristine, the colors are always vibrant, the staff is always super friendly (especially the gentlemen who work the front door) and it might be my imagination, but I’m fairly sure the sun is always shining there! This day was no different for Anna and William, a.k.a. Butch, who eloped in their hotel suite at Tucker’s Point on February 8, 2017! With the groom’s father, three close friends, and their dearest pup present, Anna and William said their vows to one another, exchanged their rings, and were legally wed on one of the prettiest days of the month!
Maternity: M & R - Jobson's Cove & Fairmont Southampton
Portrait: The Trangs - Lake Barcroft, Virginia
I had the pleasure of photographing my dear friend Kim and her family at their home in Lake Barcroft, Virginia. Kim and I went to high school together and were also on the swim team together. She, her husband, Jami, and their kids now live in Manhattan. It was such a treat to link up with all of them while they were back in the D.C. area. This lake has always been a special spot for me mainly because I grew up swimming for the Lake Barcroft dolphins; a motor-boatin’ team if ever there was one! At seventeen, I became a lifeguard at Lake Barcroft and worked there for the next five summers. Let me tell you; working at the lake was a pretty sweet summertime gig for a college student! With the number of paths, beaches, swing sets and colorful canoes; the lake has now become a pretty sweet location for family photo shoots!
Portrait: Melanie & Olivia - Annandale, Virginia
I had a fantastic time photographing my best friend of thirty plus years – who is also named Melanie – and her daughter, Olivia at The Holmes Run Stream Valley Park in Annandale, Virginia! Melanie and I used to wonder through the creek together when we were girls and it was a treat to take her little one to our old stomping grounds. Melanie has a background in dog training and it was only fitting that she also bring Jackson, their Brazilian Mastiff. The color in the fall leaves was holding on tight… winter is coming!
Wedding: M & S - Aboard the "ÜberVida", Bermuda
Some things are just meant to be. Mujib and Sameera for example, this couple was meant to be together and I suppose… I was meant to be their photographer. Mujib and Sameera just had their wedding photographer cancel on them a few months before their wedding. Moments later, Mujib spotted me photographing an event at the Hamilton Princess, where he first introduced himself to me and asked if I was free to shoot his wedding in the fall. After exchanging business cards, his fiancé, Sameera, gave me a call and we “clicked”. She was from Alabama… my mother is from Alabama (Roll Tide)… she was moving to Bermuda from a big city… I had moved to Bermuda from a big city… I was not only excited to photograph Sameera & Mujib’s big day but I was also excited to know there would be another Alabamian on the island! The couple was married at The Registrar's Office in the City of Hamilton, although they exchanged their vows to one another, had their first dance, cut the cake, and partied the afternoon away aboard the infamous Übervida!
Wedding: W & A - Bella Vista, Bermuda
I had a great time photographing Walette and Anthony’s wedding “up country”. If you’re from Bermuda, then you know that the saying “up country” refers to those traveling “up to” Somerset and “down country” refers to those traveling “down to” St. George’s. This wedding was pure Somerset and it was spectacular! The two were married at St. Joseph's Church, had their portraits taken at Fort Scaur, and their reception was at Bella Vista Bar & Grill, which is on Port Royal Golf Course in Sandys Parish.
