Portrait: Melanie & Olivia - Annandale, Virginia

I had a fantastic time photographing my best friend of thirty plus years – who is also named Melanie – and her daughter, Olivia at The Holmes Run Stream Valley Park in Annandale, Virginia!  Melanie and I used to wonder through the creek together when we were girls and it was a treat to take her little one to our old stomping grounds.  Melanie has a background in dog training and it was only fitting that she also bring Jackson, their Brazilian Mastiff.  The color in the fall leaves was holding on tight… winter is coming!

Some things are just meant to be.  Mujib and Sameera for example, this couple was meant to be together and I suppose… I was meant to be their photographer.  Mujib and Sameera just had their wedding photographer cancel on them a few months before their wedding.  Moments later, Mujib spotted me photographing an event at the Hamilton Princess, where he first introduced himself to me and asked if I was free to shoot his wedding in the fall.  After exchanging business cards, his fiancé, Sameera, gave me a call and we “clicked”.  She was from Alabama… my mother is from Alabama (Roll Tide)… she was moving to Bermuda from a big city… I had moved to Bermuda from a big city… I was not only excited to photograph Sameera & Mujib’s big day but I was also excited to know there would be another Alabamian on the island! The couple was married at The Registrar's Office in the City of Hamilton, although they exchanged their vows to one another, had their first dance, cut the cake, and partied the afternoon away aboard the infamous Übervida

Wedding: W & A - Bella Vista, Bermuda

Wedding: W & A - Bella Vista, Bermuda

I had a great time photographing Walette and Anthony’s wedding “up country”. If you’re from Bermuda, then you know that the saying “up country” refers to those traveling “up to” Somerset and “down country” refers to those traveling “down to” St. George’s. This wedding was pure Somerset and it was spectacular! The two were married at St. Joseph's Church, had their portraits taken at Fort Scaur, and their reception was at Bella Vista Bar & Grill, which is on Port Royal Golf Course in Sandys Parish.
