Wedding: Lizzie & Slayton - Coral Beach Club, Bermuda

I had the pleasure of photographing Lizzie and Slayton's Wedding at the Coral Beach Club in Paget, Bermuda. The morning of the wedding was very relaxing for both the bride and groom: full of laughter and confetti.... because what's a good wedding without a little confetti? Right? The couple was joined by their dearest friends and family; some of whom were local to Bermuda and others who had flown in from the States!

Right? The couple was joined by their dearest friends and family; some of whom were local to Bermuda and others who had flown in from the States!

With Lizzie being an avid surfer and Slayton a fisherman, the turquoise water of Bermuda was the perfect backdrop for their wedding!  The couple - standing within a gorgeous floral wreath made by Demco - recited their vows to one another, exchanged rings, and "sealed the deal" with a kiss. Afterward the ceremony on the beach, Lizzie and Slayton's guests moved over to the Frozen Hut at the Club for frozen drinks and horderves.  Before the bride and groom joined in on the "cocktail hour" fun, they paused for portraits with their bridal party and family.

The reception "kicked off" with the cutting of the cake; followed by speeches, the couple's first dance, and dinner!  Devil's Isles Audio provided the music for the evening and proved to be a smashing hit!  Taking Lizzie and Slayton's wedding photographs was a delight for two reasons: a) these two are so obviously in love - I had to stop myself from tearing up behind the lens - and b) and the day's weather was picture-perfect - you could say, it was a "Bermudiful Wedding Day"!

Portrait: The Gruska Family - Tucker's Point, Bermuda

I had a wonderful time working with the Gruska Family at Rosewood Tucker’s Point! This resort is a wonderful place for a photo shoot and is undoubtedly a photographer’s dream!  The family traveled down to the tiny island of Bermuda from New Jersey for a little “R and R” with their daughter.  We explored the ins and outs of Tucker's: the library, the unique architecture of the resort, the croquet lawn, the spa pool, although their goal for the photo shoot was to make sure their daughter enjoyed the beach! Their daughter had such a fun time at the beach that she passed right out from pure excitement!

Elopement: Anna & William - Tucker's Point, Bermuda

Rosewood Tucker’s Point is one of my favorite resorts to photograph weddings at in Bermuda. The landscape is always pristine, the colors are always vibrant, the staff is always super friendly (especially the gentlemen who work the front door) and it might be my imagination, but I’m fairly sure the sun is always shining there! This day was no different for Anna and William, a.k.a. Butch, who eloped in their hotel suite at Tucker’s Point on February 8, 2017! With the groom’s father, three close friends, and their dearest pup present, Anna and William said their vows to one another, exchanged their rings, and were legally wed on one of the prettiest days of the month!

After the ceremony, we made our way around Tucker's Point to take bridal portraits – while simultaneously walking the dog.  Anna and William were visibly on Cloud 9 as they laughed with one another continuously. In between me giving them tips for different poses, they would look at each other, embrace, and seemingly a warm calm would overcome the two of them; a sure sign of true love and friendship!

Portrait: The Trangs - Lake Barcroft, Virginia

I had the pleasure of photographing my dear friend Kim and her family at their home in Lake Barcroft, Virginia.  Kim and I went to high school together and were also on the swim team together.  She, her husband, Jami, and their kids now live in Manhattan.  It was such a treat to link up with all of them while they were back in the D.C. area. This lake has always been a special spot for me mainly because I grew up swimming for the Lake Barcroft dolphins; a motor-boatin’ team if ever there was one!  At seventeen, I became a lifeguard at Lake Barcroft and worked there for the next five summers.  Let me tell you; working at the lake was a pretty sweet summertime gig for a college student! With the number of paths, beaches, swing sets and colorful canoes; the lake has now become a pretty sweet location for family photo shoots!

During my time photographing Kim’s family, I had the pleasure of capturing her mom in her meditation room. As a devout Buddhist, she meditates several times a day.

Portrait: Melanie & Olivia - Annandale, Virginia

I had a fantastic time photographing my best friend of thirty plus years – who is also named Melanie – and her daughter, Olivia at The Holmes Run Stream Valley Park in Annandale, Virginia!  Melanie and I used to wonder through the creek together when we were girls and it was a treat to take her little one to our old stomping grounds.  Melanie has a background in dog training and it was only fitting that she also bring Jackson, their Brazilian Mastiff.  The color in the fall leaves was holding on tight… winter is coming!

Wedding: M & S - Aboard the "ÜberVida", Bermuda

Some things are just meant to be.  Mujib and Sameera for example, this couple was meant to be together and I suppose… I was meant to be their photographer.  Mujib and Sameera just had their wedding photographer cancel on them a few months before their wedding.  Moments later, Mujib spotted me photographing an event at the Hamilton Princess, where he first introduced himself to me and asked if I was free to shoot his wedding in the fall.  After exchanging business cards, his fiancé, Sameera, gave me a call and we “clicked”.  She was from Alabama… my mother is from Alabama (Roll Tide)… she was moving to Bermuda from a big city… I had moved to Bermuda from a big city… I was not only excited to photograph Sameera & Mujib’s big day but I was also excited to know there would be another Alabamian on the island! The couple was married at The Registrar's Office in the City of Hamilton, although they exchanged their vows to one another, had their first dance, cut the cake, and partied the afternoon away aboard the infamous Übervida

Wedding: W & A - Bella Vista, Bermuda

I had a great time photographing Walette and Anthony’s wedding “up country”. If you’re from Bermuda, then you know that the saying “up country” refers to those traveling “up to” Somerset and “down country” refers to those traveling “down to” St. George’s. This wedding was pure Somerset and it was spectacular! The two were married at St. Joseph's Church, had their portraits taken at Fort Scaur, and their reception was at Bella Vista Bar & Grill, which is on Port Royal Golf Course in Sandys Parish.

The bride, her family, and bridesmaids got ready at Walette's family homestead, also in Sandys.  Once hair and make-up were complete, Walette got into her gown, which boasted beautiful bead work!

The ceremony took place at St. Joseph’s Church and upon arriving, a number of folks from the neighborhood gathered at the entrance to say "best wishes" to the bride.  St. Joseph's church is the oldest Catholic Church in Bermuda and the interior is lined with hand carved Bermuda cedar; a stunning backdrop for a wedding ceremony!  One by one, the bridesmaids entered the church and walked down the aisle, which was carefully lined with Ferns and Baby's-breath and the walkway was adorned with rose petals thrown by the flower girls.

After the two said their vows and exchanged their rings, it was time for portraits at Ft. Scaur!  Shortly after, we headed over to Bella Vista Bar & Grill, which is located on the Port Royal Golf Course.  This quaint venue offers stunning views of the golf course and the ocean!  With a bridal party of fifteen people, the expansive view allowed for a creative approach to the group shots.

With the start of the reception, the bride and groom greeted their guests and sat down for dinner and speeches. Hand painted signs were propped up around the dining area with quotes; one reading "I am my beloved and my beloved is mine".   Between the cake-cutting, bouquet toss, and garter toss, the DJ turned up the music and shortly after, a full blown dance party and conga line broke out!  At the end of the evening, each guest took home a little bag of ceder shavings; a fun Bermudian wedding favor tradition.
