Maternity: Katie & Matt

Last November, I sent out an e-mail notifying folks of my "Holiday Hustle Sale"; an annual sale that consists of three hours of shooting and all high-res files for seventy-five bucks!  Clients can pick any style of photo shoot they want: an engagement shoot, family portraits, maternity photos - any genre!  In short, a sweet deal!  Jeanie, Katie's mom and a close family friend of Jim and I, wrote back and said she wanted to purchase a "Holiday Hustle" maternity photo shoot for her daughter and son-in-law; they had just found out they were expecting a baby!

Jeanie gave the photo shoot to Katie and her husband, Matt for Christmas.  Excited at the thought of a maternity shoot, Katie wanted to wait for the "baby bump" to show a bit more before she and Matt had the pictures taken.  The best time for a woman to take her maternity pictures - in my humble opinion - is during the 7th month or the beginning of the 8th month.  By the time Katie was ready to book the shoot, she had found out that she and Matt were expecting a boy!

I took the photographs around their house; in the garden, by the palm trees, by the shore and on the roof!  Just for the record, the "roof" was a suggestion that Matt made!  Katie's immediate reaction was, "OH YES! Get the ladder!".  It's always fun for a photographer to shoot a couple who is up for a little adventure.  Katie was one of the most radiant pregnant women I've ever photographed!  Matt was hilarious during the shoot and simultaneously very supportive of Katie.  It was very clear that the two of them were excited to be parents and meet their new baby boy!
