Engagement: K & B - St. George's Historic Town

From the moment I spoke to Kayleigh on the phone, I knew we would work well together. Kayleigh first reached out while we were in Scotland photographing a wedding. She explained that she and her honey - Brian - were getting married in Bermuda and wanted to book an Engagement Session. When I met them in person, I knew not only were we going to have a great photoshoot but I also knew we were going to be great friends! We laughed throughout the entire session - from one section of St. George’s to the next!

Wedding: J & K - Unfinished Church - Bermuda

The lovely couple flew to Bermuda from the District of Colombia - my hometown - for their wedding with their nearest and dearest. With their ceremony taking place on Good Friday - one could hear the sound of kites soaring overhead from any corner of the island; a very good omen for their special day! Our first stop was the Hamilton Princess, where J & K got ready:

Draped in a gorgeous Berta Dress, the Bride set out to meet her Groom - who was handsomely clad in a custom suit - at the Unfinished Church in St. George’s. During the First Look photos, the bride and groom enjoyed a few moments together - just the two of them. The love and respect between the couple were noticeable as soon as they saw one another. For roughly twenty minutes, the soon-to-be newlyweds laughed and giggled - just the two of them - before their guests’ arrival.

After the guests were seated, the groom and bridal party made their way to the front of the church. Before the bride was escorted down the aisle, all were treated to a (very) emotional interpretive dance by a close friend of the couple. The dance was about learning to love and grow in love. It was the perfect precursor J walking down the aisle; escorted by her two brothers.

After J took K’s hands, the minister noted that marriage is a sacred union, which is not to be entered into lightly. With this gentle reminder, the “wedding day vibe” became a bit more mindful, which converted into a joyous mood moments later as they exchanged their vows. After they exchanged the rings and their first kiss as husband and wife, it was time to jump the broom!

With the conclusion of the group photos, J, K, and I went into the “heart” of St. George’s for a few bridal portraits. As a wedding photographer, this is my favourite time of day to spend with the couple - sunset. The light is soft at this time and when it’s just the couple in front of my camera, we can create memorable photos that will be enjoyed for generations to come.

The couple kicked off their reception at Tempest with their first dance followed by K’s dance with his mother and ending with J dancing with her brothers and nephews. At this time, the DJ decided to “turn it up” and played a bit of Gogo Music to get the party started right.

Overall it was a beautiful wedding day. Many congrats to J and K on their union and many thanks for allowing me to be a part of it!
